Providing an efficient and reliable logistics solution to support distribution to Europe and the USA

Client profile

The Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative (OMSCo) is the largest and longest established UK organic dairy cooperative and the second largest dedicated organic milk pool in the world.

Formed in 1994 by a group of five dairy farmers, it now has over 200 farmer members across the UK and supplies the majority of the UK’s organic dairy processing needs, serving notable customers such as Yeo Valley, Muller and Dairy Crest.

OMSCo began storing its range of organic butter and mozzarella cheese products for the European and USA markets at the Partner Logistics Gloucester facility in 2015.

Logistics solution

OMSCo required an efficient and reliable logistics provider to support the distribution of their products to Europe and the USA. Partner Logistics Gloucester provided the perfect location between its combined processing plants in the UK.

OMSCo currently store 100-200 pallets at the Gloucester site. The warehouse has a total pallet capacity of 72,000 and temperatures in the giant cold store are maintained at -24°C.

Business benefits delivered

It is clear that first impressions went a long way in OMSCo’s decision to choose Partner Logistics to support their business for products to be distributed to the USA. Partner Logistic’s fully automated stores are equipped with the latest technology to ensure that they deliver industry-leading accuracy for critical metrics such as order picking and load on time.

In addition, OMSCo were also influenced by the reduction in man-handling involved in Partner Logistics’ operations, especially when it came to a cross docking/cross handling and multi-customer projects.

Selecting the right location is also crucial when choosing a storage and logistics facility. From OMSCo’s point of view, Partner Logistics’ Gloucester site was the ideal location for their combined processing plants in the UK.

It is clear, therefore, that the combination of fully automated, hi-tech facilities of all Partner Logistics warehouse sites, coupled with Gloucester’s strategic location, meant that Partner Logistics Gloucester was the most attractive proposition to OMSCo.

Steve Dare, OMSCo’s Contracts Manager, was effusive in his praise of Partner Logistics, commenting that “the service level has proved to be excellent”. The co-operation of Partner Logistics Gloucester Site Operations Manager Max Longley and his staff was also cited as a major benefit of the relationship between Partner Logistics and OMSCo.

Partner Logistics has gained a significant reputation in the frozen warehousing industry due to their fully automated warehouses being uniquely configurable to meet specific client needs and operational demands. The requirements of each business are achieved through sustainable, long-term contracts and dedicated service.

As well as operating state-of-the-art storage facilities, Partner Logistics also works closely with their transport partners to deliver an integrated end-to-end logistics solution.
